As a native New Yorker, Nina attended lower and middle school at Nightingale- Bamford, located in the heart of Museum Mile. Her early introduction to fine arts and antiques was encouraged by her parents who placed great value in her cultural education, and who as avid collectors, she would accompany on their frequent trips to Sotheby’s, Christies and the shows and galleries that defined the New York art scene. When Nina left for boarding school, her parents moved to their Palm Beach home where they had spent their winter childhoods. Upon graduating from Southern Methodist University, Nina returned to New York working for AVENUE Magazine where her love of arts, and furniture were reignited. By way of her focus on interior design and real estate editorial, she now envisioned a career that would combine her passions and enrolled at The New York School of Interior Design. It was here that she began to curate the style that has become her calling card. Having had the unique privilege of visiting homes throughout the world, Nina was able to combine her sophisticated palate and deep knowledge of art and furniture, with the experience of raising a large family, into the rare design sense that she is known for today. Her designs combine sophistication with function, elegance with ease and contemporary with period. The result are interiors that not only reflect her style, but the style of her varied clients. While living in a loft in Soho that she renovated and designed, she began NVM Interiors. Within months she was working on projects from Fifth Avenue to Tribeca, Locust Valley to Palm Beach. Nina is now thrilled to announce that she is joining her extended family in Palm Beach and is relaunching her firm under the name, Nina Monell Design LLC.
